Three
contemporary icons of this era are Superman, Def Leppard, and Coca Cola. Superman represents the hero of the 20th
Century. Def Leppard contributed to the international music culture for three
decades. Finally, coca cola is the all-time favorite drink throughout the
globe.
I
chose the icons because as a child Superman represented the idea that there was
someone out there battling the evil in our world. He was responsible for
Halloween costumes, birthday party decorations, and various other products
commercialization by the entertainment industry. The rock band Def Leppard has been a family
and friend favorite for over 30 years. This band’s music inspires to return me
to some of the best memories of my life. Coca Cola has contributed to hundreds
of commercials, parties, dinners, and various other events of our generation.
Everywhere you go you will see a coca cola sign.
All
three of these products have been a very important part of my life. I have
purchased products representing these brands, as well as use them to spark
memories of my past. We grow up with a great deal of changes; it is nice to see
that some things, even though they change, always to some extend manage to stay
part of our lives.
Great post, Julie!! I was also a HUGE Def Leppard fan growing up. They represented true friendship and the true meaning of what it meant to be a band, after the drummer had is accident and they purchased a special drum set so he could continue performing. I enjoyed reading it!!!

Good choices. I had a weird pop culture mash-up experience three years ago... Some of my fellow "grew up in the 80s" girlfriends and I always made it a point to see Def Leppard and Poison whenever they were in town...and this night they were both playing together! Seven of us rented a limo and got VIP seats for this special show. On the way there we heard about the passing of Michael Jackson so we were all sobbing in the limo, but when we got to the show both Def Leppard and Poison showed us that music wasnt dead and that the show did go on. They went on stage together and did a tribute and that was cool.
DeleteDo you wanna get rocked? Always had respect for them, although in the later years I must admit I did not like the rebirth. Superman is def. an icon throughout the 20th century and will be again in the 21st. I remember thinking I was just as invincible and charasmatic...not the case in either situation :). Sometimes I wish Coca-Cola would vanish. It is rotgut in a can, (if it sits there to long it eats the can or bottle!), but I use it to clean my battery connectors. Everything here is for sure a member of pop culture and will be heroes to some and villians to others. Great post! Look forward to next week!
ReplyDeleteI heard the Coca-Cola is a great cleaning product...not such a good thing to drink.
